FREE Kid-Friendly Events in Toledo August 16th-22nd

Tuesday August 16th

  1. Toledo Museum of Art- kiddos can build in the Imagination Playground (10am- 5pm) and create & play in the Family Center 10am-3pm (Theme: Colorful Conversations).
  2. Baby Tour at Toledo Museum of Art 10:30-11:30am- Meet outside the Family Center. Watch your child respond to large colorful paintings and learn ways to facilitate early visual literacy skills in this lively 30-minute tour. Parents and caregivers with infants up to 18 months are welcome.
  3. Historical Tours of the Manor House @ Wildwood Preserve Metropark at noon- Enjoy a free guided tour of this over 30,000 square foot, Depression-era home and learn about the region’s rich history or walk through the first floor in your own time. After touring the Manor House, save time to walk through the Ellen Biddle Shipman Gardens or walk the trails through the spectacular grounds of Wildwood Preserve.

Wednesday August 17th

  1. Summer $1 Movie (almost no charge) @ Franklin Park 16 at 10am- Paddington
  2. Fossil Park! Located at 5675 Centennial Road, Sylvania, Ohio (7:30am-8pm) Travel back in time 375-million-years ago when Northwest Ohio was a great sea teeming with life. Bring a brush to assist in cleaning your fossils, as well as something in which to carry your buried treasures home with you.
  3. Westgate Farmer’s Market 3-7pm in the parking lot of Elder-Beerman- enjoy all the goodies local vendors have to offer, grab a snack, purchase fresh produce, etc.

Thursday August 18th

  1. Summer $1 Movie (almost no charge) @ Franklin Park 16 at 10am- Paddington
  2. Library Playdate @ Point Place Branch 10:30am-noon- Meet up with other mommas, mingle and make new friends. They provide toys, puzzles and more!  Grownups, feel free to bring coffee and a snack for your child.
  3. The Lunch at Levis concerts @ Noon-1:30pm- This week is Rodney Parker & The Liberty Beach Band (FYI- they typically have at least six food trucks every week, and, within a three-block area of Levis Square, & at least six restaurants).
  4. Toledo Museum of Art- kiddos can build in the Imagination Playground (10am- 5pm) and create & play in the Family Center 10am-3pm (Theme: Colorful Conversations).

Friday August 19th

  1. Rhythm and Rhyme Storytime at the Main branch Library Children’s Program Room 10am-11:30am – For children of all abilities and their families! Join us for an action-packed Storytime program with music and movement that will have everyone moving and shaking! In partnership with the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
  2. Toledo Museum of Art- kiddos can build in the Imagination Playground (10am- 5pm) and create & play in the Family Center 3:30pm-8pm (Theme: Colorful Conversations).
  3. Music at the Museum! It’s Friday! Music Outdoor Summer Series with Skip Turner @ 6:30pm – 8:30pm on the Museum Grounds (If it rains concert moves indoors, will not be canceled)

Saturday August 20th & Sunday August 21st

  1. Saturday, Chess Players @ the Main branch Library 9:30am-11:30am- Stop by the Children’s Library on Saturday mornings for a game of chess. Practice basic moves as well as learn some advanced strategies. All skill levels welcome.
  2. Saturday, Disney Store Dream Big Princess Event-For every girl that dreams big, there’s a princess to show her it’s possible. Join fellow princesses at the Disney Store at Franklin Park Mall for a “Dream Big Princess” event on Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Dress in your favorite princess wear for this FREE event that includes crafts, activities, friendship and fun.spring 031_0
  3. Saturday LEGO Build Event @ Barnes & Noble Fallen Timber Special Event, Children’s Event 4:00 PM Kids ages 6 and up are invited to join us for our latest LEGO Build Event. Participants will get to explore their creativity on this entertaining, team-building occasion.
  4. Saturday, Cinemark Community Day will feature: FREE Family Movies from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm exact showtimes to be determined. Showtimes and movie offers may vary by location.Discounted concession items including $2 small popcorn, $2 (16 oz.) soft drinks and $2 packaged candy! Proceeds will support WE.org in providing youth empowerment and service learning programs in the USA
  5. Saturday, Secor Park @ 10am -Metroparks presents BugFest!, a celebration of bugs. Experience the incredible, unforgettable Dr. Insecta Show starting at 10 a.m. Our community partners will be there to educate and entertain all things bugs as well. The National Center for Nature Photography will feature exhibits focused on bugs. Bugs, Bugs Bugs, we all love bugs. The entire family will love BugFest. No worries the food trucks will not be featuring edible bugs, bring your appetite and enjoy a nice lunch in the park.

 

Monday August 22nd

  1. Family Outdoor Skills: Orienteering 4pm-5pm @ Lott branch Library- Learn how to find your way by using a magnetic compass with Metroparks Toledo staff. No smart phone or GPS needed. All equipment provided. Best suited for families with children in Grades 3 and up.
