Great Art Escape!

Don’t get cabin fever over the holidays. Go on a treasure hunt, see live performances or create your own work of art at the Toledo Museum of Art. You can do that and more during The Great Art Escape which takes place Dec. 27 through New Year’s Day (Jan. 1).
Sponsored in part by Taylor Cadillac, the week of events has become a holiday tradition for bringing together family, friends and holiday guests – or getting away from them. Most of the activities are free.
The Museum is introducing its new TMApp during the Great Art Escape. Available for free download for Android and iOS devices, the app was created with support in part from Buckeye Broadband. Visitors can go use the app to go on a scavenger hunt in the galleries.

Noon Year’s Eve Zumba Party

Let the little minnows enjoy the excitement of the day AND get them to bed on time. Join us for a smaller version of the Walleye Drop featuring games, snacks, live entertainment, face painting, balloon animals and a Walleye Drop fit for their smaller size! FREE Entertainment this year provided by: African Wildlife Safari… African Safari Wildlife Park will be bringing some of their favorite animals to visit Wylie Walleye and all his friends at the Minnow Drop this year! Learn about the animals, pet them and even buy a souvenir photo with a Burmese Python!

What is Winter Quest? It’s a new series of programs running Jan. 1 – Feb. 28. Just download the Winter Quest Log to get started. Then participate in a scheduled program(CLICK HERE for list of scheduled programs, http://metroparkstoledo.com/media/2531/winterquest2017-record.pdf ) listed or any outdoor activity on your own and record what you did. Each week that you complete a program or activity, bring your log to the Visitors Center at Wildwood Preserve, or post a message to our Facebook page, and you will be entered in a weekly drawing to win prizes, how cool is that!?! When posting to Facebook, just tell them about your outdoor, recreation activity that week (and they always love pics!!).
Come to the FREE kick-off event New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31 at Ottawa Park Skating Rink for a variety of fun activities. Choose the time that best fits your family:
Noon to 3 p.m.: Fun, educational family activities (and hot chocolate!) by Toledo Youth Commission, Metroparks, Toledo Zoo, Toledo Lucas County Public Library, Toledo Museum of Art and Toledo School for the Arts.
Also noon to 3 p.m.: Ice skating and sledding
1 to 3 p.m.: Try archery and snowshoes
Teen and Adult Blow Out
6 to 8 p.m. – Archery, snowshoes, sledding, skating, s’mores over a campfire with spiced cider
8 to 10 p.m – Test your skills at throwing atlatls, take a night hike, sit by the campfire and enjoy music
10 p.m. to midnight: The fun continues with music to sled and skate to and a ball drop at midnight

New Year’s Eve is a great time to celebrate all that we’ve done and all that we will do in the coming year. But midnight can come too late for the little ones (and let’s face it, sometimes the not-so-little ones).
That’s why Noon Year’s Eve is such a great family event! Your family can raise a toast to the New Year with some tasty juice, sing a round of “Auld Lang Syne” and watch the ball rise… all at the stroke of noon! There’s even a place where you can make a few ReZOOlutions to be a little greener in the New Year.
