Spring break is just around the corner! And for some families Spring Break 2017 means they will finally be taking that trip to Disney World, or perhaps, going on that all-inclusive cruise. Meanwhile other families are planning on packing up the car and hitting the open road for a good old-fashioned family road trip. While there are still others, like our family, who will be rocking the classic staycation! And let me tell you, Toledo has us covered when it comes to fun family friendly activities this Spring Break, in fact one word comes to mind, Bravo….Bravo Toledo!

Toledo Zoo & Aquarium Spring Break Camps: Spring Break Junior Zoo Keeper

Your child can be a Zookeeper for the day and explore how Zookeepers take care of the zoo’s amazing animal collections. Behind the scenes tours, keeper meet and greets, and hands on husbandry make this camp a must for animal lovers.  All camps run 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, and children can sign up for just one or more.  This is a great way to be active during a school break.  Participants must be ages 11-12 years.

Members: $45 per day   Non-members: $50 per day

Toledo Zoo & Aquarium: Spring Break Camp

Looking for something fun to do over Spring Break? Your child can join the Toledo Zoo at Spring Break Camp!  They will experience non-stop fun with exciting exhibit tours, amazing animal visitors, cool crafts and goofy games.  All camps run 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, and children can sign up for just one or more.  This is a great way to be active during a school break.   Participants must be ages 5-10 years.

Swing Into Spring

It’s all about Monkeys and Apes in this camp! From langurs to lemurs to orangutans learn about some of our most charismatic animals in the zoo.

Animals eat a variety of foods.  Follow the food chain to discover what’s on each animals menu.

4-H Camp Palmer: Supercamp 2017

April 21st-23rd, 2017

They offer this program to youth for one reason: for kids to truly have FUN!

By this they mean they want kids to feel needed and accepted in a group; to give them a sense of importance, and the opportunity for achievement.

Their goal is to enhance the self-concept of each camper by:

  • Introducing each youth to experiences that encourage making new friends
  • Providing group activities which promote the development of group participation, cooperation, and citizenship
  • Offering sessions such as nature, drama, dance, outdoor recreation, folk games, team challenge, singing, canoeing, archery, crafts, and Pride Sessions, to meet the needs of each camper
  • Providing a highly qualified, well-trained (not to mention fun-loving) adult and counselor staff

Springtime Geocache Egg Hunt

You’ve never hunted eggs like this before! Hop into the spring spirit as you search through the park for hidden eggs with the help of a GPS unit. No geocaching experience necessary; GPS units will be provided. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Register all participants ages 5-17; adult chaperones do not need to register.

NorthWest Ohio River Runners Meeting: A Kayak Group Open to the Public

This month the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will teach part 2 of 2 paddle sport safety classes. The class is free. Join the NorthWest Ohio River Runners (NWORR) kayak and canoe enthusiasts for their off-season winter meetings. Their mission is, “to inform, teach, and share in the fun and safety of the sport, for individuals and families in northwest Ohio and across the country.”

Youth ages 9-17 years boulder through time to get a grip on what 400 million year old fossils look like! Basic bouldering styles and safety will be introduced followed by an up close and personal lesson about the life forms that created the limestone wall you traverse.       Ikr!?! I would be right there with ya! My oldest participated in their Junior Zoo Keeper camp last summer and it was AH-mazing!! She loved it!! They should totally offer an adult option!
