Toledo’s Coffee Guide: Toledo Knows Good Coffee

“We want to do a lot of stuff; we’re not in great shape. We didn’t get a good night’s sleep. We’re a little depressed. Coffee solves all these problems in one delightful little cup.” -Jerry Seinfeld-

The aroma of coffee always transports me back to childhood; I can practically see my father pouring a cup now. My father ran/runs on coffee. My father was/is a brilliant person, engineer, & architect and as a child I associated success with coffee drinking. Clearly coffee equals brilliance! And one day I too was going to be a brilliant coffee drinker! Life goals, lol! And I am happy to say I crushed that goal in 1992 at the ripe age of 12 thanks to the opening of Toledo’s first real coffee house, Sufficient Grounds (and a little nudge by this new sitcom with 6 friends who made meeting up at a coffee house seem to be the new cool thing to do) I was on my brilliant journey!

coffeelove9The coffee scene was lacking for a few years but thankfully Chandler’s café opened in 2007 and it just so happened to open right when I needed it most, as a mom!  In fact this was where our playgroup would host Tuesdays’ Tea with Toddlers. Toddlers/kiddos could socialize a bit (get dressed up, color, etc.) while the moms got some much needed adult conversation!! Then in 2012 we added Black Kite & Plate 21 into our Tuesdays’ Tea with Toddlers rotation. Today I have two tweens and a spunky first grader. Thus, coffee dates with other moms have officially become my therapy!  Lol! And there are no shortages of coffee house options. Whether you are looking to simply stop and refuel, sip with friends, get work done without the distractions of home life, or enjoy some solitude Toledo has you covered! Toledo knows Good Coffee and there is something for everyone, not a huge coffee fan? There’s also teas, lattes, blended drinks, etc.  So without further ado, here is Toledo’s Coffee Guide.

Thanks for the recommendations. We were driving through Toledo on our way to NYC from Michigan. My husband and I were craving good coffee and I happened to stumble upon your blog… we ended up at BREW and weren’t disappointed.
