St. Ursula Academy Summer Camps 2018


OH MY GOSH! Just when you thought it was safe to make your final Summer Camp decisions St. Ursula Academy went and released their Summer Camps, and let me tell you, they do not disappoint! Get this; there is an American Girl Summer Camp!! Anyone else have a little lady who will lose her mind when she finds out she can go to camp with her American Girl doll? But that’s not all; they are also offering a Culinary Camp, Digital Art Camp, A Day in the Lab, Golf Camp, Lacrosse, etc. Checkout the menu of options below, share with friends, & sign up, like, today!! (FYI-there is only space for 20 campers in the America Girl Camp).

Please note, SUA will undergo some exciting renovations to their campus this summer, so they will have a limited number of enrichment camps. They look forward to offering a full slate of camps in summer 2019.

SUA’s American Girl® Camp

SUASUMMERCAMP3Discover your inner star at SUA’s American Girl® Camp. Bring your 18” doll and participate in a variety of hands-on activities to foster confidence, manners, and creativity. On Thursday, invite a special adult to a fun gathering. Space is limited to 20 campers.

Grades: K, 1, 2, 3

Time: 8:30-11:30 a.m.

A Day in the Studio

Calling all future artists to this camp! Spend the week in St. Ursula’s awesome art studio with one of SUA’s art teachers. At this camp, you will work with a different medium each day, including paint and clay, to create your own masterpieces. All projects will be taken home to display. Space is limited to 12 campers.

Grades: 4, 5, 6,7

A Day in the Kitchen

SUASUMMERCAMP4Put on your chef’s hat and come to SUA’s culinary camp to try out your skills in the kitchen. A variety of recipes and food preparation techniques will be introduced. The best part will be sampling your work! Space is limited to 12 campers.

Girls in Digital Arts

A beginner-level course for girls interested in graphic design. Mirrored after SUA’s high school course Women in Digital Arts and taught by an SUA fine arts teacher, this camp will give you the basics of the Adobe suite programs, as well as help guide your creative skills. Limited to 12 campers.

A Day in the Lab

Smart is cool at SUA! You will spend your time at this camp with goggles and beakers in SUA’s four science labs. Plenty of hands-on activities will help campers see why Arrows love to learn. SUA is the place to be for girls who love science! Space is limited to 12 campers.

Basketball Camp

Arrow basketball Coach Tandy Bradford and staff will be hosting a unique chance this summer to develop fundamental skills, game IQ, and love for the game of basketball by hosting Basketball Ballers Club. This three-week program will provide opportunities for coaches to work with each age group to enhance skill and knowledge. We will focus on ball handling, footwork, shooting, and defense positioning. Each session will build on the previous one. There is an opportunity for “drop-in” if you can only make a few of the club sessions. The staff is very skilled, and this camp will be a terrific way for young players to grow in the off season or learn the game for the first time.

Grades: 5, 6, 7, 8

Softball Camp

Varsity Head Coach Jeff Eisenbrandt will direct the camp with help from past and present varsity team members. The camp will cover the fundamental skills of the game: hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running. Offensive and defensive strategies will also be covered. Beginners and intermediate level. Required equipment: glove, helmet, bat.

Grades: 5, 6, 7, 8, incoming 9th graders

Date: June 4 -5

Time: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Golf Camp

SUASUMMERCAMP6The SUA Golf Camp is a fantastic opportunity for girls in 5th through 8th grade to learn a little about the game, understand and develop beneficial practice strategies, and meet and interact with the SUA Golf Team and coaches. The SUA Golf Team is one of the most successful programs in Ohio. Jim McGowan has been the coach for 17 years, and he will present some of the best strategies for becoming a better golfer, the same strategies used by the Golf Team successfully for years. Jim will be assisted by Meredith Daughtery, JV Coach and former SUA golfer; Claire Batista, assistant SUA coach and former Head Women’s coach at The University of Toledo; and members of the SUA team. Camp includes instruction, beverages and snacks, and a commemorative SUA t-shirt.

Soccer Camp

Varsity Soccer Coach Scott Reed will head a staff of SUA coaches and former SUA players. The SUA Soccer Camp will benefit all levels of players by focusing on increasing the individual technical ability of each player through isolating her technical skills without pressure. Repetition in game-realistic situations using short-sided games will allow higher ball-to-player interaction ratios and therefore generate success. SUA Soccer Camp will allow young players to work with highly accomplished coaches and gain a look into one of the most successful soccer programs in Northwest Ohio.

Lacrosse Camp

The Lacrosse Staff will direct the camp with help from past and present varsity team members. The camp will cover the FUNdamental skills of the game: passing, catching, cradling, scooping, and shooting. We will also cover offensive and defensive play of the game. The camp will include drills and scrimmage games. Beginners and intermediate players welcome. Required equipment: lacrosse stick, goggles, mouth guard.

Grades: 5, 6, 7, 8, incoming 9th graders

Date: June 26 – 28

Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Volleyball Camps

SUA Head Coach Sydney Antonio will direct the camps with help from her staff, as well as from past and present varsity team members. Coach Antonio has been involved with SUA volleyball for more than 10 years and leads successful camps to help the development of each player.

Advanced All Skills Volleyball Camp

We ask that each player who comes to this camp plays on a competitive, fast-paced volleyball team and is an athlete with an eagerness to improve!

Grades: 5, 6, 7, 8

Dates: July 9 – 12

Volleyball Defensive Camp

This camp is designed for athletes entering grades 5 – 8 and is ideal for those who wish to train as a defensive specialist or libero. Major emphasis will be placed on body posture, footwork, digging techniques, as well as advanced floor and ball-handling skills.

Grades: 5, 6, 7, 8 (Max Class Size: 48)

Dates: July 9 – 11

Time: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Volleyball Setter Camp

Setting camp is designed for athletes entering grades 6-8. This position-specific camp is geared for those who want to train strictly at the setter position. The technique-packed sessions are led by Kaycie Perillo, former college setter and SUA alum, with emphasis placed on hand position, body posture, footwork patterns, and release location, as well as decision-making and various “play sets.”

Grades: 6, 7, 8 (Max Class Size: 24)
