I had the pleasure of being accompanied by one of my favorite people to see Dear Evan Hansen. We both share a love for live performances and my daughter appreciated the fact that this show wasn’t geared toward “old people”.

Dear Evan Hansen musical is about all of us. It’s about needing one another, and realizing that our socioeconomic differences do not negate one’s need for interpersonal connection. It’s about community, compassion, empathy, it’s about being found, being seen!
This beautifully written musical illustrates how one severely insecure riddled with anxiety teenage boy’s intrapersonal conflict allowed for interpersonal comfort, support, and sympathy.
I will warn you, bring your tissues, you will go on an emotional rollercoaster with the cast. You will find a reflection of yourself, a family member, or a friend in the characters, and the experience will tug at your heartstrings.

There is also some language that is PG-13, but I am sure it is nothing your tween or teen hasn’t heard before.
So, if you’re looking for the perfect way to spend an evening with one or all of your kiddos (again, 12+ is what I’d recommend), one that will lead to an open dialogue and discussion about a slew of topics afterward…perhaps over tacos or boba tea, then don’t miss out on seeing Dear Evan Hansen
