Stocking Stuffers for Teens

As a child on Christmas morning, I hated the feeling within me that accompanied those last few remaining gifts that still needed to be opened under the tree. Why? It meant the excitement, the joy, and the anticipation that I had built up throughout the advent season was coming to an end. And then I’d remember, the stockings!

The stockings are the equivalent of a dessert after an epic meal. We always saved the stockings for last, but I know there are those families that dive into the stockings first. So whether your family prefers the stockings as an appetizer or dessert makes no difference the elation evoked when that stocking is removed from the mantel and the weight of the mysterious prizes within is felt in your hands is pure exhilaration. Then the big reveal, ever so carefully removing each treasure of the meticulously curated collection of personalized goods. Unless you had that sibling who just literally dumped the entire contents of their stocking on the floor. I had one of those, in fact, I think there’s at least one in every family, which is fine. I personally enjoyed the element of surprise that came with removing each and every item from my stocking. What I didn’t realize when I was a child was that it took one individual a lot of time, effort, energy, and financial budgeting to make that magical moment occur. What’s more, that special individual didn’t even take the credit.

I have to be honest, I didn’t realize just how much effort and energy moms exuded over the holidays until I became one. And now as a mother of teenagers, the challenge of curating that collection of treasures to place in the stocking is a bit more challenging. It took me a while but I managed to collate this list of stocking stuffers for my teenagers.

This is what I am stuffing in my teenagers’ stockings. (My teens are 13, 16, & 18)
