Splat at Spin & Splat

Raising teenagers can be challenging at times but it’s also a magnificent stage in your child’s development. While the rest of the world may see them beginning to take the shape of an adult, as parents we are privy to the vulnerable moments, we can still see the shy timid scared kindergarteners on the first day of school or three-year-olds attempting the big slide on their own. Their egos are easily wounded and as such they become timid and often reluctant to share. Not to mention, as parents, we are very busy and may unknowingly come across as distracted and uninterested. This is why it is so important that we make the time to spend quality time with our teens.

I always find that a novel activity breaks the ice, and allows both parents and teenagers to let loose, have some fun, and not feel so rigid and overwhelmed by school and work. After letting loose with a fun experience or activity the perfect way to further connect is over dinner or dessert, chat about the experience you just shared, what you were surprised by, and what you enjoyed most, and then allow the conversation to flow naturally. Allow the conversation to be a safe place, don’t pass judgment, disclose when appropriate, but most of all, listen, just listen, and enjoy the privilege of witnessing your child develop and grow on their journey toward young adulthood. Looking for a fun activity that teenagers will enjoy? Here’s a fun, indoor, poncho optional, experience they’ll love!

Splat at Spin & Splat

Talk about a sweet time! You arrive and are escorted back to the splat room. The excitement and anticipation slowly increase with each step. Upon arrival, you can practically feel the energy in the space, the music, the neon paint splattered on the walls, and the atmosphere screams fun as you’re handed a poncho, booties, and goggles to protect clothing and eyes from splatted paint. And then the party is officially started when the fluorescent lights go off and the black lights go on, the music goes up, paint is applied, and splatting one another is encouraged. When else in their lives can kids just have a bit of paint-splattering fun?

Be honest, these goggles, they are so me, aren’t they?!

I had an absolute blast splattering with my teenagers! And I was impressed by how much fun they had…I might have gotten the side eye when I mentioned this at first but by the end of the night, they were thanking me for this awesome experience!

And then we ended our night with Pizza and Thrifting!
