Love Every Holiday? Here’s Why You Should Decorate for ALL of Them!

For most kids, the holidays are a big deal and that’s not just about Christmas or Thanksgiving, but Easter, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and pretty much every single holiday that has something commercial attached to it. It’s all about the bright colors and the exciting decorations and the celebrations that come with it, which means that most people love to be able to decorate their homes, not just for Christmas. Anybody who does celebrate Christmas celebrates putting up the tree hanging the lights outside and putting up the tinsel. But what about the other holidays?

When it comes to trying to prepare for Halloween, the decor is a big deal. The whole house can be decorated and not just the outside of the home, and so it should be! Here are some fun ways to decorate for the Fall.

Embrace Color

Reds, oranges, yellows, and earth tones bring fall to mind almost instantly. But they also look beautiful no matter what season it is, making them good choices for updating a room design. Adding a fresh coat of paint is always an option for bringing in some autumnal colors. You can try these cost-saving options:

  • Swapping out your window decorations
  • Refinishing your wood floor to bring out its natural colors
  • Adding a piece of wall art
  • Using a patterned couch covering

Since color directly relates to light, a simple way to change it is to change your home’s lighting. Incorporating warm light sources like twinkle lights will help give your home a cozy fall aesthetic.

Look For Cozy Textures

When we think of décor, we tend to focus on our sense of sight. We might consider how patterns look together or where furniture sits. But texture is a key interior design principle that you can use to call fall to mind. Look for cozy fabrics, such as:

  • Flannel
  • Faux fur
  • Cashmere
  • Suede
  • Knit prints
  • Wicker

When you have these fabric choices, find clever ways to incorporate them into the room. For example, you could put out a knit rug, add a flannel throw blanket to the couch, or hang baskets on the wall.

Add a Touch of Nature

When we imagine adding nature to our spaces, our minds tend to go to lush, green potted plants. But nature is entirely on display at this time of year. So, slipping it into your room is an easy way to reimagine your home décor for fall on a budget. Here are pieces of nature that people associate with fall:

  • Pumpkins
  • Pinecones
  • Marigolds
  • Goldenrods
  • Acorns
  • Sunflowers
  • Autumn leaves

You can add these to a side table or put them in a vase. Alternatively, you can get a little more crafty by tying them into wreaths or hanging art that contains them.
