Children love to play; they love to explore and get into everything – which is why learning through play is one of the best ways for them to learn! Although you might have an outcome in mind, the true joy in learning with play is that there shouldn’t be any real goals; it should be active, you need to take part, and the child should be the leader.

Sand
Sand is definitely an outside play material! But children just love it. Digging, pouring it, drawing little things in the sand – all of that is great for coordination and getting those fine and gross motor skills working. Build sandcastles together to make it extra enjoyable.
if your child is in a daycare & early learning academy, nursery, or any other child care – you can ask the staff for tips about what your child likes the best and work that into your home play. It might be that they prefer water to sand, which means you’ll be able to invest in the right things.
Play Dough
Building little models has always been a lot of fun, and soft, squishy dough offers the perfect thing! You can take it one step further and make the play doubt yourself with different scents and textures, or make it easy on yourself and buy some. A small set of tools will help you and your child sculpt monsters, animals, and pizzas.
Painting and Drawing
Coloring, painting, and drawing are now recommended for everyone to enjoy – because it has such a great effect on us. It is relaxing, but it allows our imaginations to run wild and create things. But it’s not just about creating; there are a lot of skills that go into it! Color theory, learning to mix paints, understanding the effect of certain things on the paper and paint, using the hands for a sensory experience, and holding the stampers and paintbrush.
Clean Up
It might take a little while, but almost all children will learn that in order to play with other toys, they need to put the first set away. While tidying up is a skill, it’s not just about that – it is a little bit of responsibility and becoming aware of actions and consequences. For example, leaving blocks all over the floor and tripping over one.
Tidying up is a lifelong skill that is very beneficial, and it can start as early as you like – make the most of the time when you are small enough to love helping!
Movement
Balance, core strength, and muscle control all come from things like walking and dancing. So why not have a little time every day dedicated to dancing and playing? Dancing and singing are happy activities to take part in, and the more you do it, the better your child’s strength and flexibility will become! (And as a side benefit, it is useful for you too).
