Sweet Shalom Tea Room is OPEN in Toledo!

Pink floral china patterns adorn with gold trim, frilly tablecloths, doilies, pocket pies, shortbreads, & truffles, a light hum of classical music, gorgeous ladies draped in beautiful flowing sundresses relaxing, sans smartphones. That is the fantasy image that often comes to mind when one thinks of a tea party & Sweet Shalom Tea Room makes that a reality.

Whether you are looking for a way to spend the afternoon with your Valentine (perfect mother/daughter or son date), are in dire need of a Mom’s Day Out with friends, or are looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift for Mom (May’s Menu is Up), Sweet Shalom Tea Room is where  ladies can linger a bit longer while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere, being waited on, and the comfort of warm tea and uplifting conversations.   

Sweet Shalom Tea Room is located at 8216 Erie Street and it is full of history, it was originally a small farmhouse built over 140 years ago and was enlarged and remodeled in Queen Anne style architecture in the late 1800’s, in 1999 the house was saved from demolition and moved from its original location at the southeast corner of Centennial and Erie Street. Even the location adds to the experience, I love it!!

The name “Sweet Shalom Tea Room” was inspired by the biblical word “shalom”. The definition of shalom includes peace, harmony, completeness, wholeness, wellness and perfection.  You can literally feel your blood pressure drop as you enter the house and are greeted by peace and harmony.

Sweet Shalom Tea Room offers 2 Seatings on Friday and Sundays at 11am or 2:30pm and has Special Events throughout the year. Each Seating has a fun, well thought-out themed menu!!!

We’ve enjoyed various themes and shared some lovely memories with family and friends over the years at Sweet Shalom Tea Room. The time, energy, effort, and especially attention to detail leaves each guest feeling extremely special, no matter the theme.  But one of my daughter’s favorite themes by far has been, “Glamping”…we had met up with some good friends for a Mother Daughter double date and had an absolute blast! Here’s a glimpse of our experience…the experience was nice for us mom, to be able to just relax and be waited on is literally what every mom longs for, to escape the demands of mom life for just an afternoon was magnificent.  And the girls absolutely adored “Glamping”, the ladies at Sweet Shalom Tea Room did a fabulous job, the food, craft, tea, etc. was spot on….right down to the girls roasting their own marshmallows!!

“Glamping” combines the positive experiences of camping with a bit more glamour and comfort. And do we have the ultimate Glamping afternoon planned for you! No creepy crawlies, no leaky tents, just the cheery pleasures and fun of camping with a touch of elegance and, of course, tea.

Have special dietary needs? Have no fear; you don’t have to miss out on tea. They are very accommodating. They put together a beautiful vegan spread for me; they do ask that you share your dietary requirements when you make your reservations.
