I know we see our children every day, but do we really “see” them? When was the last time you shut off the rest of the world and gave your undivided attention to your child for a significant amount of time? I’m talking phones off, totally immersed in an activity leading to an unscripted genuine off-the-cuff deep conversation kind of attention?

If you ask most of us parents, myself included, they’d probably say they see their children multiple times throughout the day. In the morning when they wake, driving them to and from school, as well as, after school activities, at the dinner table, etc. But if you really reflect back on an entire week, how much undivided attention do you, or should I say, can you, give each child? I mean, let’s be fair, you’re also very busy. This is why I find date nights are a must! I try to get at least one date night on the calendar for each of my children each month. I let my teenage son plan our date night and his pick was Top Pot Hot Pot & Korean BBQ and let me say the experience did not disappoint!

What is Top Pot Hot Pot and Korean BBQ?
It is a restaurant that offers customers a completely customizable and unique experience. When you arrive you are asked if you wish to grill your food, boil in the hot pot, or both. Once you’re seated you then select the food items based on your cooking method as well as any sides (all food is unlimited). They offer a variety of meat, seafood, fresh vegetables, tofu, etc. There is also a seasoning bar where you can make your own unique grilling and dipping sauces or use one of the many provided. And there is also Boba tea!

At first, I was a little skeptical, okay, I was a complete skeptic! I didn’t see the point of going out to eat if I had to cook the food for myself. Let me tell you, I was wrong. Sure I can grill my own food at home but I definitely do not have the variety of food options at home already cleaned cut and prepped ready to grill, nor do I have the diverse variety of spices, oils, and sauces in my pantry. And when else am I going to have the opportunity to grill both octopus and tongue at a table with my son. The service was exceptional and very attentive, and they changed out the grill frequently.

I can honestly say that this date night was like none other, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of grilling a variety of seafood, meats, and veggies with my teenage son while here about all the happenings in his life, It is surprising how much a teen will open up and chat while grilling!
