📖 A Beloved Story Brought to Life

At the heart of Dog Man: The Musical are best friends George and Harold, two imaginative kids who have been creating comics together for years. Now that they’re in 5th grade, they’re ready to level up their creativity and write a musical based on their favorite hero, Dog Man, the crime-biting sensation who is part dog, part man, and ALL HERO.

With the head of a dog and the body of a policeman, Dog Man loves to fight crime, protect his city, and yes, chew on the furniture. As he tries his best to be a good boy, he faces off against unforgettable villains like Petey, the world’s most evil cat, who has cloned himself in an attempt to finally defeat Dog Man, and Flippy the cyborg fish, leader of an army of Beasty Buildings.

As the action unfolds, George and Harold race to finish their musical before lunchtime, resulting in a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud adventure filled with humor, heart, and creativity. It’s a story that celebrates imagination, friendship, and believing in yourself,  messages that resonate with kids and parents alike.

🌟 Created by a Team Families Trust

Produced by TheaterWorksUSA, Dog Man: The Musical is written by Kevin Del Aguila and Brad Alexander, the Emmy-winning duo behind the PBS series Peg + Cat, along with family favorites like Click, Clack, Moo and Clifford the Big Red Dog. Directed and choreographed by Jen Wineman, the show is thoughtfully crafted to keep kids engaged while giving parents plenty of moments to smile, laugh, and even feel a little nostalgic.

The music is catchy, the choreography is energetic, and the storytelling stays true to the spirit of Dav Pilkey’s beloved books.

A lively scene from a theatrical performance featuring four characters: one is a doctor with a doctor's hat giving a thumbs up, another is a woman with long hair looking excited, a man wearing a red tie and a nurse hat, and a character lying down on a table. They are in a brightly colored setting, suggesting a playful and humorous theme.

🎭 Why Live Theater Matters

There is something truly special about live performances. Unlike movies or screens, theater invites us to be fully present, to laugh at the same moments, feel the excitement together, and share reactions in real time. These are the moments children remember: holding your hand during a favorite song, laughing together at a silly scene, and talking about it all the way home.

Live performances create shared memories, the kind that families talk about years later. Long after the details fade, the feeling remains. Those memories become part of a child’s story, something they carry with them into adulthood and pass on to the next generation.

That’s what makes Dog Man: The Musical such a meaningful gift.
