Use Your Fruits

Chemical-based cleaning products do the job for sure, but there are more natural and less harmful products you can use in your home. For instance, you probably love that lemon-scented Pine Sol, but you love it because of the way it leaves your home smelling.

Go straight to the source and use lemon and lime concoctions for different areas in your home:

  • Cut lemons and limes into quarters and place them inside your garbage disposal to detox.
  • Spray a mixture of lemon oil, water, and vinegar to degrease the oven and stovetop.
  • Steam the microwave with lemon oil and water for five minutes.

You can pick up everything on this list from the grocery store. Because they’re so affordable, do yourself a favor and stock up on them to save yourself a second trip. You can also use some of these mixes for granite surface countertops.

Suck It Up

If you have carpet in your home, you probably have a vacuum. Even if you don’t, a lot of people keep a vacuum on hand because it works for things beyond carpets. But there’s a cleaning hack you need to know about.

Consider using a wet-dry vacuum for areas inside and outside of your home. However, make sure you flip the switch for it to perform your desired function. This machine works great for cleaning out your car and saves you the trouble of traveling to a car wash.

Nuke the Sponge

How many people know they need to sanitize and clean their sponges? If you didn’t before, now you do. Don’t go from room to room with the same sponge without neutralizing it first. And you should never use the same sponge repeatedly without cleaning it.

Take your sponges and nuke them in the microwave for about 30 seconds. The radiation cleans and rids the sponge of any bacteria. This hack helps stop the spread of germs.

Trap the Ceiling Fan

Pillowcases are for more than just sleeping. Before replacing and throwing out your old ones, use them for another purpose. Take one case and attach it to one of the blades, and swipe it across to remove the dust and build-up.

The pillowcase is more effective than using a rag or even a duster because it traps everything inside the case. You don’t have to worry about the mess hitting the floor and disturbing the progress you’ve made so far.

Life hacks are helpful and good to know, but life hacks for cleaning are life savers, no pun intended.
