It’s not always easy to find things to do as a family during the winter. It’s cold outside, and you may not have as much energy this time of the year. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of fun winter activities for the whole family to enjoy. When everyone has a free evening together, consider any of these events and have a relaxing evening.

Backyard Campfire
When it’s cold outside, it may be a good time to gather everyone out in the yard and put together a small campfire. Everyone can enjoy the warmth of the fire in contrast to the cool night air, and it’s a great opportunity to tell stories and roast s’mores. Always follow proper rules and regulations when making a campfire and ensure it’s completely put out before turning in for the evening.
Viewing Christmas Lights
There’s something wonderfully serene about driving around and looking at people’s holiday decorations. Consider loading everyone into the car and cruising around the neighborhood to take in the lights. If it’s not too cold, driving a golf cart is perfect for families with young children. Golf carts allow you to go slower, take more in, and provide a generally more unobstructed view. You can head somewhere new and see what you find or check local community posts online to see if there are any nearby hotspots for viewing Christmas lights.
Holiday Movie Marathon
If it’s too chilly outside, one fun winter activity for the whole family is to stay in and have a holiday movie marathon. Have everybody pick out their favorite holiday film and draw slips of paper to determine the viewing order. You could watch the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas or a more modern classic like Klaus. No matter what you choose, getting everyone together to watch some of their favorite flicks is a great way to spend time together. You can pop some popcorn and whip up some hot chocolate so everybody is comfortable and happy throughout the films.
