Horseshoe Bend

It was hard to leave Antelope Canyon X, like literally exhausting walking up and out of that canyon. With that 2:30pm Arizona sun beating down on us, and the heat radiating up from the sand and the sides of the canyon it felt like an oven. The actual temperature was 103 degrees and it had to of been at least 5 or more degrees warmer as we walked out of the canyon. And by that point of the tour we were down to our last few sips of water, my best advice, conserve your water for your walk up and out of the canyon. And take your time walking up, continue to embrace the beauty and breathe, in through the nose and out through the mouth…don’t over exhaust yourself because there will still be some daylight left (I believe their latest tour time is 2 or 3pm) and there’s SO MUCH of Arizona to see! Our next stop is Horseshoe Bend!

Grand Canyon National Park

We were up and at ’em early this morning in order to get to the park before there was a lineup. (See our Itinerary HERE)It’s suggested that you arrive between 9 and 10AM, otherwise, you could be waiting to get into the park. Also, there isn’t much in the way of rest stops, restrooms, and fast-food establishments between Flagstaff and the park (quick side note, don’t read or look at your phone along this journey, the views are epic, like nothing you’d EVER see in NW Ohio), so we made certain we packed our lunch and took tiny sips of our coffees along the way. Though I apparently didn’t take tiny enough sips or perhaps it was my 40+-year-old bladder and the fact that it’s had 3 large babies sitting on it at some point, but I had to go so bad, thus, our first stop, once we were in the park, was the restrooms!

Hocking Hills Trip With the Kids Post-Divorce Papers

Do you have a place, a destination, or a trip you’ve always wanted to take either with your family or spouse? Hocking Hills was my place. I’d always wanted to go. We talked about it multiple times over the course of 19 years of marriage but something always came up, often other financial obligations that took precedence over a trip to Hocking Hills. An excuse always presented itself, such is life. We tend to put off the things that will really matter in the long run, like planning family vacations and getaways with your spouse to reconnect, spend quality time together and make the memories that strengthen the marital bond. Ultimately putting off what is vital for the family and marriage for some other short-term gain or for something we assume should take priority over the need to take a break from all the work and really remember why we do all the work we do, who we do it for, what we do it for, we’re so American!
