Top Tips For The Planning The Perfect Wedding On A Budget

Your wedding will likely be one of the most special days of your life, but despite popular misconception, it does not need to be one of the most expensive. In fact, there are plenty of steps you can take to have your magical moment on a budget! Here are some great ideas to get you started.

  • Be creative when venue shopping. Whether you are hosting an intimate ceremony or hoping to invite hundreds of guests, your venue plays a large role in your big day, but this doesn’t mean you need to fork out thousands of dollars. Instead, be creative. For example, you could even host a wedding reception in your backyard.
  • Look for dresses second-hand. For many, the wedding dress is one of the most important aspects of their wedding. After all, your wedding day gives you the perfect excuse to go all out and feel like a princess. However, as you’ll only wear the dress once, you shouldn’t take out a loan to get your hands on the gown of your dreams. Instead, keep an eye out for second-hand dresses from online stores or online bridal groups like Facebook.
  • Be prepared to spend on some aspects. While budgeting is important, you should also ensure that you don’t let it stand in the way of making your wedding special. For example, as you’re going to be wearing your ring every day, then it’s perfectly fine to splurge a little on your ring. For example, you could purchase a princess cut diamond ring online from sites such as, which makes you smile each time it catches your eye. Regardless of how much you spend on your ring, you must also make sure that you know how to preserve your wedding ring.
  • Try your hand at baking a cake. Whether you’re a fan of traditional fruitcake or prefer a slice of Victoria Sponge, yourself and your partner could have a lot of fun baking (and decorating) your own cake – instead of hiring a baker to do it for you. Not only will this save you money, but it’s also a great way to make lasting memories. Alternatively, if you know that one of your guests is a culinary whiz, you could ask them to make a cake for you as their wedding gift.
  • Use playlists instead of live music. Hiring live musicians or bands for your wedding can be expensive – but putting together your own playlist will not cost you a single penny. However, if you want to ensure that the guests are dancing all night long, you should allow each guest to contribute to the playlist ahead of time. For example, you could ask them to respond to the RSVP with two of their favorite songs. This is a great way to ensure that the dance floor is full all night long (and it means you don’t have too much pressure on your own playlist-creating abilities). However, you should also ensure you throw plenty of cheesy party music, and sing-along bops to the mix!
