So maybe we can’t take the kiddos on an awesome field trip to a museum, attend an Opera, or go to the zoo, but we can bring all those to the comforts of our own homes! That’s right; in this day and age of technology social distancing doesn’t need to get us down! Read more →
Resurrection Eggs have been a tradition in most Christian families for years. What are Resurrection Eggs? They are a dozen plastic eggs with tiny symbols in each that represent an important occurrence during Holy Week. These symbols help children to remember the story leading up to Jesus’ Resurrection. The only problem is children tend to enjoy playing with the symbols so much that they often become misplaced. So in an effort to eliminate the need to go hunting for a tiny donkey at a hobby store on Palm Sunday painting Resurrection rocks seemed like the perfect alternative. And what’s more, it’s simple & fun! Read more →

As parents we are greatly concerned about our children’s physical health. From the moment our babies are born we take them to their checkups, at 7 days, a month, 3 months, 6 months, yearly, etc. And we often make appointments in-between with concerns over respiratory or ear infection, fever, or stomach issues. And there’s the rare event of an accident on the playground, bunkbed, etc. that could land your child in the Emergency Room needing x-rays for broken bones, stitches, etc. Yes, when it comes to our children’s physical health we don’t miss a beat. We watch for the signs, the tugging on the ear, fever, lack of appetite, we physically see a bruise, cut, scrape, broken arm, or leg. What about their mental health? How do you see their anxiety, depression, stress, etc.? The outward symptoms of mental health concerns simply aren’t as easy to spot as a physical disease or ailment.
Did you know…
Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses, affecting an estimated 300 million people around the world.
If mental illness is not treated early, it can increase the risk of other disorders throughout life.
It is important to address these issues early, while the brain is still developing and interventions stand a better chance of taking hold.
One in five teenagers in the U.S. seriously considers suicide annually.
Approximately 1,700 teenagers die by suicide each year.
As parents we need to crush the stigma that is still too-often attached to mental illness. We need to provide just as much care, concern, & urgency with our children’s mental health as we do their physical health. If we can show them from a young age how Mental & Physical Health are equally as important we could literally make the world a better place for not only them but future generations!
Are you ready to take that first step toward shattering the stigma & get your child’s Mental Health Well-Check? Then call, WeCare Psychiatry Associates Today!
Share, tag family and friends, together we can squash the stigma surrounded by mental health issues & ultimately make the world a better place!
A sense of responsibility. Kids and teens learn what it means to make and keep a commitment. They learn how to be on time for a job, do their best, and be proud of the results. But they also learn that, ultimately, we’re all responsible for the well-being of our communities.
That one person can make a difference. A wonderful, empowering message for kids is that they’re important enough to have an impact on someone or something else.
Tolerance. Working in community service can bring kids and teens in touch with people of different backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, ages, and education and income levels. They’ll learn that even the most diverse individuals can be united by common values.
Have tons of cookbooks, random recipes torn out of magazines, food magazines just lying around, or the occasional notecard with recipes passed down from a family member or a friend? So many recipes and food options, yet, are you still struggling with meal planning? I here ya, mommas! That was totally me 3 years ago. Then I bossed up and took control of my life, well, my kitchen. Doing this one thing has helped me eliminate all the unnecessary clutter, saved me so much time, got me organized, & ultimately made my life so much easier! Oh, yeah, and when my friend called and asked if I could meet for coffee I totally shocked both of us when I replied, “YES!” (actual image of me realizing I had found time in my busy schedule) And I want the same for you…I want you to have more time, more time with your family, & actually time for yourself! How does that sound?
So let’s do this, lets….

4 hours, 3 potty breaks, 2 meals, & 1 car-full of kiddos constantly asking, “How many more minutes”, and we arrived! Well, almost….we parked, paid, hopped on a bus, and, then WOW!!! I think everyone’s jaws dropped, lol!
As many of you know February is National Heart Month, in fact this February marks the 56th consecutive American Heart Month. The first proclamation was issued by President Lyndon B. Johnson in February 1964, nine years after he had a heart attack. The federally designated event reinforces the importance of heart health since heart disease is the #1 killer of Americans. It also addresses the need for more research, with a reminder to get families, friends and communities involved.
