Wauseon Public Pool OPEN & ONLY $5!!!

Temps rising, sun blazing, & the cost of a waterpark is just outside your budget?  Thankfully, the amazing community of Wauseon, Ohio, has been kind enough to extend an invitation to their local pool to all visitors. Which, let’s be honest, is kinda a huge deal, especially when they totally had the option of only including individuals from their local community. Thus, with that being stated, when visiting, please extend your gratitude, thank them for opening the pool to visitors, practice your best poolside manners, and, most importantly, have fun!

Rolling Hills Water Park Is OPEN!

It was late July and I had just posted a meet-up with our playgroup, our destination, Rolling Hills Water Park in Ypsilanti, MI. As a mom I was slightly terrified, how was I going to watch all three kiddos go in three different directions at a water park? Turns out one of the best things I ever did was to make the event a playdate meet-up! Many eyes and hands make for light work when it comes to watching children. Playgroup moms are like an extension of themselves. We each divided and conquered the water park that day. Two moms took a group of kiddos to the lazy river, another two took kids to the water slides, and two stayed by the splash area with toddlers, and it was such a relaxing, enjoyable, and fun day for all of us, moms and kiddos. Seven years later and we are still continuing the tradition!

5 Realistic Ways To Practice Self-Care as a Busy Mom

We’ve all seen the advertisements, the model with the perfect body getting a massage at what looks to be a five-star resort in the tropics, or the yogi nailing the perfect yoga pose while basking in the sun, or the image of the woman reading a book with the perfect cup of coffee! While these are all ideal images of self-care they are not practical. Let’s get real. Each of us needs to incorporate self-care into our already busy lives, not put it off until we have the time for that trip, to read that novel, or learn yoga because chances are burnout will occur first!

What’s St. Nicholas Day?

It’s the first week of Advent! And as many moms, I’m a mix of overwhelmed and overjoyed at the impending Christmas season. My “to-do” list is lengthy, between work, getting grades in, grad-school papers, projects, exams, purchasing presents, wrapping, decorating, getting Christmas clothes, etc. And yet, what’s my most significant struggle? Not allowing the pressure of “bringing the joy” of the Christmas season to my children, family, and loved ones to rob me of one of my most significant gifts, being present! Here’s a great example, (this is from last year’s St Nicholas Day) it dawned on me that today is St. Nicholas’ day while seated on the couch at 10 pm having a rare bonding moment with my 16-year-old son (sons just don’t come up to you and spill all the tea on their lives on the daily, so this was a big deal) I could have rushed off to the store to get everything I needed to make the morning a great surprise but then I would have missed out on one of the greatest gifts, the vulnerability and pure bonding moment. I chose wisely and I officially moved our St. Nicholas “morning” to tomorrow. Moms don’t miss out on the pure genuine beauty of this season because your mind was distracted by the “to-do list”. And while traditions are magnificent don’t be afraid to alter or adjust them as your family grows, matures, and changes. Still working on your family traditions? May I suggest these, 10 Magical Events to Attend with the Kids this Christmas in Toledo. And I can’t forget one of the oldest traditions passed down from generation to generation, St. Nicholas Day! Well, St. Nicholas Eve…when the kiddos sit out their shoes in hopes that St. Nicholas will arrive while they sleep. Not familiar with the Feast of St. Nicholas?
